I first encountered AJW Malpensa while working as an external IT Technician in 2021. I spent several months providing on-site support, before being offered an internal position. I had to learn a lot very quickly, but my greatest learning resources were my colleagues, who were patient, supportive and provided me with the necessary tools to perform my job well.

I have had the opportunity to witness AJW MXP's journey almost from the beginning, and the growth of the entire hub up to the present day makes me proud of the work we have done so far - both my own and that of everyone else. I joined AJW in 2015 as a PBH Account Manager in the UK Headquarters. After two years, I became a Senior PBH Account Manager and had the opportunity to train new team members, visit customers, and work on the AOG desk. This allowed me to expand my skills and gain a wider understanding of the business.
In 2019, I started my Canadian adventure! I now work at AJW Technique in Montreal as a Sales Account Manager within the Customer Service Team. Working on the MRO side of the industry has given me the opportunity to have a hands-on approach, see the units and understand the world behind the scenes.

Working at AJW since 2012 has been an incredible experience. I joined the company fresh out of college with a National Diploma Level 3 in Aeronautical Engineering, unsure of the specific direction I wanted to take.
AJW provided me with the opportunity to work across various sections of the business, including roles as a Part 145 Inspector, TB&E Executive, and Warranty Executive, which helped me gain enormous experience in the aviation sector.
The company supported my professional growth by giving me the opportunity to further my education which allowed me to obtain an industry-recognised Aeronautical Engineering qualification. This accomplishment has led to further career advancement into the technical sector as a Technical Services Engineer.
AJW has consistently been a supportive and friendly workplace, offering numerous activities that enhance the social aspects of work life.

I joined AJW in January 2023 as a Warehouse Operative in the Packing Department. Charlotte Cheesman
Senior Commercial Manager
I joined AJW in 2009, just after finishing my A levels! I didn’t know what I wanted to do, but I knew I wanted to grow a career without going to university.
"When I first started, I didn’t even realise that aircraft had parts that needed to be maintained or replaced, just like my car needed an MOT.
I quickly discovered a love for aviation, and with the support of many experienced leaders across the company, I progressed my way from Admin Assistant to Senior Commercial Manager (with a sidestep role in between!).
I’ve had the opportunity to travel extensively and work with many different cultures, which has developed my knowledge of airlines and their operations, as well as teaching me how to adapt my negotiation skills to suit different regions.
I have often been able to extend my work trips into the weekend – a memorable highlight is spending some extra days in Buenos Aries to explore the city and enjoy the steak and wine!
When I got married, I received two additional days’ holiday, which was a special added touch.
Overall, my 18-year-old self couldn’t have asked for a better company to allow me to flourish and grow my career!
Darren Potter
Warehouse Senior Team Leader
I started as an Inspector in 2017 and progressed to gain my Inspection Stamp. I eventually became a Senior Inspector, then a Warehouse Team Leader and now I am a Warehouse Senior Team Leader.
I joined AJW when I was 21, and I would happily stay many, many more years due to falling in love with the place. I couldn’t ask for a better company to work for, due to the amazing facilities, wonderful colleagues (who have become friends), and the fact that it’s an organisation that supports you to progress from within.
It’s a dynamic business with opportunities for learning and growth constantly presenting themselves to those who are willing. I’ve even had the chance to travel abroad a couple of times to assist in various projects, which has further exposed me to the aviation world.
Davie Malone
Senior Warehouse Operative
I joined AJW in 2018 and in that time, I am proud to have gained two promotions and taken on the responsibility of being a Warehouse Safety Representative and a Fire Control Officer.
I really enjoy listening to my colleagues’ ideas and working with AJW’s HSE Officer to report hazards and keep the warehouse safe. It’s been great to have the opportunity to learn a whole new skillset and gain certifications in First Aid.
AJW were also of great help to me after my knee replacement and supported me every step of the way with my rehabilitation back into the workforce.
I am a big advocate that age should never be a barrier to success, and I am pleased to be proof that career development can continue no matter how old you are!

Team Leader - MXP Warehouse
I joined the Picking and Packing Department AJW’s MXP Hub in February 2022 and was proud to be promoted to Team Leader in early 2024. In this role, I especially enjoy creating an environment where people feel they are part of a team, and where everyone’s work is fundamental to our success.
AJW Malpensa has such a positive working atmosphere, with supportive managers and constant collaboration and respect among colleagues. On top of that, we have a good salary and benefits, and there is always the opportunity to grow and learn new things.
I’m thankful to my managers for having always believed in me and for encouraging me to flourish and improve in my role.
Erin Kenward-Kirkham
Assistant Logistics Manager
I have built my career within AJW since 2017, progressing wherever possible within the logistics department. During my time here I have gained extensive exposure to the world of logistics, customs formalities, dangerous goods, and the aviation industry as a whole. I have really found my feet in my current role, and I have a fabulous team around me. I was recently accepted as a Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, which is a huge career moment for me!
AJW has always had a ‘family and friends’ culture. Throughout my time here I have gained lifelong friends and a support network. I forever have memories of the fabulous Christmas parties, as well as the multiple group activities we do throughout the year! Just this year, our team has won two AJW Quiz nights, escaped the escape rooms at Tulleys farm, and played mini golf - with more activities to come.
Gabriele Piccoli
Team Leader - MXP Warehouse
From the moment I joined AJW, I immediately felt valued and appreciated, both on a human and professional level, thanks to the supportive culture of the company. I enjoy being a part of the world of aviation and belonging to a team where collaboration and improvement are the main goals.
In my two years at AJW, I have had lots of opportunities to grow professionally thanks to an ever-changing environment where the goal is to create a harmonious and productive workplace and listen to the needs of each individual employee. As a result, I grew my skills and was proud to be promoted from my Warehouse Operative role to a Team Leader position in July 2024.
Georgina Arthurs
Senior Customer Repairs Team Leader
I started at AJW as a Core Customer Service Executive back in 2016, before moving to the Tactical Buying & Expediting (TB&E) Team. I have progressed through various positions in the department, and now I am a Senior Team Leader!
There are lots of growth opportunities at AJW, and a vast amount of knowledge and experience amongst internal stakeholders who I am always learning from. I have attended a leadership course that helped to further develop my people management skills. This played a pivotal role in supporting me to manage a large team, and learning how I should handle different situations.
I’ve also had opportunities to visit customers and suppliers for onsite meetings or network in different places around the world. I love my team and the collaborative spirit we always have!

Career progression is a big strength of AJW’s, and I have personally benefitted from the many training and certification opportunities on offer. I’ve worked my way up from being a Warehouse and Logistics Support Executive to my current role as Digital Design Manager, and I’m currently completing a Level 4 Business Analyst Apprenticeship with Metadata.
AJW operates in a complex industry – so there’s something new to learn every day! I love the variety of work in my role, and the fact that I get to collaborate with teams throughout the organisation.
Being able to improve areas across the business with projects that I have helped to deliver is extremely fulfilling.
Helen Mitchell
Warehouse Operative
I started working at AJW on a part time basis in November 2021, as a stepping stone in returning to work after being a full-time carer for my son for 19 years.
"It was daunting to re-enter the workforce after such a long time, but AJW provided me with the training and opportunities I needed to perform my role, and plenty of familiarisation with other departments to gain knowledge of how all our processes work together.
I am now working full time, and due to the training I have received and the people I work with, AJW became a place I wanted to stay - not just a stepping stone!
One of AJW’s strengths is that they really care about their employees. I feel very supported in being able to attend full-time employment, whilst still having a level of care duties in my personal life.
My colleagues in the warehouse are a mix of different ages, genders, ethnicities, and personalities. This diversity is a huge strength, and it contributes to a very positive atmosphere which helps all our departments work together as one unified team.
Jake Hilder
Senior Application Developer
At AJW, I’ve been fortunate enough to work my way up from a Support Apprentice to a Senior Developer. I joined AJW as a First Line Support Apprentice in September 2016, gaining a Level 3 Diploma in IT Systems and Principals, as well as a CCNA Network Fundamentals Certificate. This allowed me to get promoted to Support Engineer.
I then moved into the Business Applications team where I learnt numerous programming tools and languages. I am now a Senior Application Developer getting involved in many big projects, most notably the recent roll out of a new Customer Relationship Management system, where I was the project lead for my team.
Over the years, I’ve had the ability to train on, and use, multiple different systems and programming languages, and have been given the opportunity to earn certificates in SQL, Oracle SQL, Delphi and Prince2. I am also currently working towards Golang and PMP. My knowledge of these systems helps me to deliver high-quality projects to the rest of the business.
AJW’s HQ is very local to me which is a great benefit - and the facilities are perfect. I enjoy working with everyone in my team, and we often use our fun budget to stay connected as a department. I also love collaborating with the wider company.
Joel Colbran
Senior Customer Service Executive
I started at AJW back in 2015 in the Warehouse Picking, Packing, and Inspection Team. AJW then supported me to complete a Sales and Business qualification and I attended college twice a week while working in the warehouse. After I gained my qualification, I joined the Sales Team and have progressed through different roles ever since.
I gained expertise in the Asian, African, and European aviation markets before transferring to the ILS Sales Team. If you’re looking for learning and career development opportunities, I would definitely recommend AJW!

In my time at AJW, I have been given the opportunity to work in various roles which has given me the ability for growth, both personally and professionally.
AJW actively encourages continuous learning to help you develop and be the best you can be. This is very much part of the culture of the business, and the encouragement of collaboration and innovative thinking makes it a great company to be part of.
AJW has many benefits on offer which include a fully equipped gym, an onsite restaurant, a cycle to work scheme, and pension scheme to name a few. We also have various events throughout the year to celebrate our successes.
Laura Passalacqua
Customer Service Executive
AJW is an incredible company to work for! I joined in 2023, and the level of support and encouragement within my role has been brilliant. There is a very friendly atmosphere across the business, with a ‘family feel’ towards other members of your team.
My line manager is so kind and caring and always pushes me to challenge myself in my role. I’ve also noticed that if you have a talent in another area of the business, you will be utilised and nourished to make you happier at work and to improve the business.
AJW has incredible facilities, including the Galley restaurant, Gym, Dance Studio, Pool Table, PlayStation, and the Downs Link close by for lunchtime walks.
The Galley supports you in the gym with protein bars and can accommodate all meal options such as vegan and gluten free.
The monthly fun budget is an amazing way of enjoying yourself outside of work with colleagues. Also, extras like painting classes, quiz nights, dragon boat racing, golf days, yoga and Pilates, are all a great way to try something new or improve your hobbies.
The People Team also run awareness events, such as ‘Tea and Talk’ for Mental Health Awareness Week – and too many more to mention!
Lee Barber
Logistics Executive (Nights)
I really enjoy the challenges of working in global logistics on an AOG (Aircraft on Ground) basis – particularly the requirement to fix problems and find solutions on a short timescale. The night team culture is unique because all departments work more closely together to achieve common goals.
Having worked in logistics for over 25 years, I feel I am a point of contact for my colleagues. I’m always willing to advise others and love to mentor and train where I can. For those looking to broaden their knowledge, AJW offers opportunities to move into other areas of the business, such as Sales, the Warehouse, and more.
Louise Bullingham
Senior Team Leader - Accounts Payable
I joined AJW Group in 2004 when I was looking to get back into the workplace after having my first baby. A colleague recommended me to the Finance Director and I was employed on a part-time basis doing the filing.
From there, my career flourished and I worked my way up to becoming Senior Team Leader, Accounts Payable, a position I have held since 2016 and one that I really enjoy. I would never have thought I could be part of a finance team coming from a PA background and I value the opportunity greatly.
AJW has been very supportive in offering flexible hours over the years, allowing me to juggle being a working mother. Plus, the social side of the business is brilliant. I enjoy being part of a fun, friendly and enthusiastic team and the workload, although sometimes challenging, is very rewarding. Knowing that I have succeeded in getting a payment out on time to satisfied customers is fantastic. I also feel privileged to work in the modern and inspiring surroundings of the Slinfold headquarters.

I have been provided with plenty of career opportunities at AJW. When I first joined the company in the Premises Team, I was sent on a course to update my existing BS7671 17th Edition electrical qualification to a BS7671 18th Edition Amendment 2.
I have recently had a big career path change into a new department at AJW, which I am very passionate about. I am now working in the Cyber Security Team as a Junior Security Analyst, undertaking an apprenticeship through work. I never thought an opportunity like this would be available to me, but when I approached AJW’s senior management about my aspirations, they couldn't be happier to help.
AJW provides a very friendly, dedicated, and hard-working culture which I am very fond of. Recognition is given where it is due, and staff are rewarded for their dedication and hard work.
I believe AJW's strength lies not just in keeping the world flying, but in letting their staff take off in their career paths. The sky is not the limit at AJW!
Romain Gaget
Digital Engineering Manager
I joined AJW in 2019 as a Senior JavaScript Web Developer. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of growing within the company. In January 2022, I was promoted to Manager of the Digital Engineering team —a challenging opportunity that I embraced with the unwavering support of my colleagues and the IT department.
My role at AJW allows me to pursue my passion for the tech industry and web development through continuous learning. With the support of my colleagues, I thrive in an environment where I can explore new concepts and stay up to date with cutting-edge technologies. Additionally, AJW provides access to training programs and even covers certification costs as part of career growth.
Furthermore, the flexible work hours and hybrid model have been instrumental in maintaining a healthy work-life balance and fulfilling my family responsibilities.
Sara Merriott

I started working in the Sales Team at AJW in my late teens, and now have over 20 years of experience in the aviation industry. I have worked my way up to senior positions at AJW and I was recently promoted to Head of Spares Inventory Management (SIM), which is my most exciting yet challenging role to date!
I count myself very lucky as I have an incredible team who are so focused on our objectives, and really thrive on the daily challenges. In addition, I have an excellent support network of Team Leaders and Managers who are 100% committed and have my full respect – they are such a joy to work with!
On that note, I have made a number of lifelong friends at AJW. The company has such an energetic vibe, full of fun and talent. We are also lucky to work in such lovely premises, with many benefits offered!

We have a very diverse workforce and work with customers from all over the world.
Our People Team promotes a flexible and caring culture, which has the warmest effect on staff wellbeing and gives a feeling of belonging. I appreciate the work life balance here at AJW.

Cell Lead, Oxygen and Instrument Department - AJW Technique
I joined AJW Technique as a Junior Technician in the Electromechanical Department in 2018, when I was 23, and haven’t looked back since! I have found a perfect fit at AJWT with my educational background in Avionics Aircraft Maintenance.
Since then, I have progressed through the six technician skill levels, achieving the highest skill level - Level 3 Technician - in 2023. Along the way, I gained expertise and qualifications on progressively more complex units across a variety of subcategories within the ELM department.
Eventually, when the opportunity arose, I transferred into the Instrument Department as a Level 3 Technician.
I find the work-life balance here to be very desirable, and the company culture, great facilities, and excellent colleagues make choosing to start a career with AJWT an easy choice! I look forward to many more years of growing my career here as the business continues to advance within the aviation world.

Quality Engineer
I started at AJW back in 2018, having previously worked in the ballet shoe manufacturing industry for almost 18 years.
I began my AJW career in the warehouse, with no prior aviation knowledge or experience. I started in the Unserviceable Inspection department, moving onto Inspection after 6 months. In these roles, I learnt a vast amount of information about Airworthiness Release Certification, SPM, CAMO, MOE, and met so many knowledgeable colleagues and people I can now call friends.
In October 2023, I decided I needed a change to enable me to keep growing and learning. AJW offered me a role as a Quality Engineer, which for me was an amazing opportunity to challenge myself and put myself out of my comfort zone.
At the age of 43, I think it is important to be given new opportunities when you are eager and want to be challenged, so I can only thank AJW for providing me with many chances to grow and develop my knowledge. You never stop learning!

Luke Lowson
Junior Security Analyst

My role at AJW allows me to pursue my passion for the tech industry and web development through continuous learning. With the support of my colleagues, I thrive in an environment where I can explore new concepts and stay up to date with cutting-edge technologies.

The ongoing development of the warehouse in Italy, along with the projects coming from HQ, means I am always learning and acquiring new knowledge. I am grateful to AJW for recognising this growth and dedication - and acknowledging it by promoting me to Team Leader and allowing me to recruit a new colleague to my department.
I have had the opportunity to witness AJW MXP's journey almost from the beginning, and the growth of the entire hub up to the present day makes me proud of the work we have done so far - both my own and that of everyone else. AJW is a supportive and inclusive company, where employees aren't numbers but people to listen to, help, and support.

AJW has been incredible for my career progression, training, and confidence. I joined in 2021 as People Data Systems Administrator and quickly progressed to the role of People Coordinator. Then, in July 2023, I became People Advisor and in November 2023, I was promoted to People Partner.
I have been supported to complete my Level 5 CIPD, and PI Practitioner training, and am looking to start a Level 7 CIPD in the future. I also manage the People Team’s wellbeing and engagement events which I LOVE doing.
I feel incredibly supported by my team and managers. We work well together, and all have different ideas which are heard and discussed.

I have been given lots of training opportunities to strengthen my knowledge by working in different departments within the Warehouse, such as Goods In and Despatch, and in December 2023, I progressed to the role of Warehouse Inspector.
The company and management recognise hard work with the annual bonus scheme, and by encouraging career growth. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at AJW so far, and I can see myself staying here for many more years as it is a good company, with great opportunities and a great working environment.

I have built my career within AJW since 2017, progressing wherever possible within the logistics department.

This played a pivotal role in supporting me to manage a large team, and learning how I should handle different situations.
